Preparations for PM’s India visit begin


Chief Secretary Rajendra Kishore Kshatri held a meeting with secretaries on Monday to discuss ongoing preparations for Prime Mini-ster Sher Bahadur Deuba’s upcoming visit to India.

The PM is preparing to visit the southern neighbour in the third week of August. The Nepali side has proposed August 17-19 as the time for Deuba’s visit. The Indian side is yet to confirm the date.

Secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office and Finance, Home, Defence, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transpiration, Industry, and Commerce ministries attended the session.

Secretaries from some ministries presented the status of implementation of India-funded projects in Nepal. Another meeting of the related ministries would be coordinated by Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi for which the top officials have been asked to prepare new projects and programmes.
