PM orders authorities to repair Kathmandu roads within 15 days



Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has issued a directive to the concerned authority to make all the roads of Kathmandu pothole-free by repairing the cracks and crevices on the road within the next 15 days.
PM Deuba summoned ministers, secretaries and department heads of the ministers concerned with construction and repair of roads, water supply and electricity and instructed them to repair the potholes and the water drainage pipe that are posing a serious threat to the lives of general public.
The PM issued such directive in the wake of rising incidents of people falling into pits and drains in the Capital.
Instructing the authorities concerned to repair the road cavities in the Capital, PM Deuba said the government was ready to allocate additional budget for the purpose.
He also ordered the chief of concerned departments to visit the sites and take stock of the ground reality.
PM put forth the idea of formulating integrated development plan of Kathmandu valley and asked to form the integrated projects towards that end.
Last Friday, a flood on road swept away Binita Phuyal, a grade three student, in Nepaltar of the Capital, killing her in course of the treatment. Likewise, another school girl Satya Sapkota fell into a pit not visible due to flood in Samakhusi, Kathmandu. However, she was instantly rescued by locals.
