Firewood from Koshi River

With rivers being flooded by monsoon rains, locals in various parts of Okhaldhunga district have taken the risky task of collecting firewood from the flooded Sunkoshi River.

Locals were seen extracting firewood from the flooded river below the Sunkoshi Bridge that connects Harkapur and Ghurmi of Udaypur.

The people in the area have hard time finding firewood due to lack of forest nearby and in places where there is jungle they are protected community forest.
The firewood collected from the flooded Koshi river would at least last for four months, according to the locals.
