The second round of talks between the government talk team and representatives of fasting Dr Govinda KC on the sixth day of his hunger strike also ended without any conclusion on Saturday.
KC's representatives said there was no significant progress in second round of talks except deciding to sit for third time during an hour-long talk today. They said the government talk team does not have the mandate to address the demands of the fasting doctor.
Government team also failed to come up with clear answers to KC's demands. Dr KC’s one of the demands is endorsement of the Health Profession Education Bill. The bill has been lying in the Parliament for the past one year.
"They failed to work on the feedback received after first round of talks. Holding talks in such manner won't have any outcomes," said Dr YP Singh, one of the representatives of Dr KC.
Dr KC has also been demanding mandatory enrolment of meritorious students in private medical colleges which have been admitting students with poor results, charging exorbitant amount of money from them.
He has also demanded that the Institute of Medicine be given the authority to enrol students, set fees and grant affiliation and de-affiliate medical colleges that fail to abide by the directives issued by the government and the court.
